Conan O’Brien's New property on the Sand & Larry David Spends Millions on Montecito Estate

Turns out Conan O’Brien isn’t ready to call it quits in Carpinteria just yet! A little over a month after his longtime beach house popped up for sale with a whopping $16.5 million ask, the former late-night talk show host has already picked up the keys to a new oceanfront retreat in the laidback Santa Barbara County enclave.

Records show O’Brien and wife Liza have doled out the exact asking price of $23 million for another seaside property, this one a Cape Cod-style number featuring four bedrooms and an equal number of baths in just over 3,400 square feet of living space.

Nestled securely behind gates, on an acre-plus parcel of land offering sweeping views of the ocean, Channel Islands, estuary and mountains, the wood-shingled structure was built in the early 1960s and has since been completely rebuilt by previous owners Tim Coleman, a Connecticut-based veteran restructuring specialist, and wife Lisa.

Once inside, warm and inviting interiors are punctuated throughout with oak floors, high wood-beam ceilings and refurbished baths sporting Waterworks fixtures. French doors and windows throughout the split-level home also blur the line between the indoor and outdoor surroundings. Other highlights include a living room boasting a stone fireplace with a raised hearth, along with a formal dining room, family room and an office space.

A casual breakfast nook with built-in seating adjoins a sky-lit kitchen, which is decked out with a subway tile backsplash, center island, top-tier stainless appliances and a butler’s pantry; and a sizable master retreat displays a private deck with a relaxing built-in spa and walk-in closet, as well as a luxe bath outfitted with dual vanities and a large shower.

As for the lushly landscaped grounds, they host a stunning rose garden, numerous decks and patios ideal for al fresco lounging and entertaining, and a meandering pathway leading to the almost-private beach. There’s also an attached two-car garage and a motorcourt.

In addition to his for-sale and just-purchased beach houses, O’Brien, 59, also owns a $20 million Pacific Palisades mansion.

Larry David Spends Millions on Updated Montecito Estate

After less than a year of ownership, Larry David sold his charming French Normandy-style cottage in Santa Barbara County’s affluent Montecito enclave for a profitable $6.9 million. Now the Brooklyn-born Hollywood multi-hyphenate is settling into another residence in the same coastal setting; records show the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” creator won his newly acquired home in a bidding war, paying $7.6 million — or $600,000 over the asking price.

Originally built way back in the early 1900s, the traditional-style structure has since been extensively updated, complete with five bedrooms and a matching number of baths in a little more than 4,300 square feet of single-level living space. Period details abound in the form of high exposed wood-beam ceilings, built-ins and vintage light fixtures, while French doors off all the main rooms spill out to an oversized courtyard.

Resting on almost a half-acre of fully walled and gated land in the exclusive Hedgerow community, just minutes from Montecito’s Upper and Lower villages, the white wood-sided and shingle-roof house is topped by a windowed cuppola, and fronted by a wide driveway that empties out at a gated porte-cochere tucked off to the side and spacious gravel motorcourt out front.

A lengthy brick-clad porch greets visitors, with the front door opening into a chandelier-topped entrance hallway. From there, a living room with a fireplace rests beneath a soaring sky-lit ceiling courtesy of the aforementioned cuppola, and a large dining room has a gold-painted walls adorned with white wainscoting. A family room and fireside breakfast nook connect to the decidedly dated kitchen, which is outfitted with an eat-in island, built-in cabinetry and a butler’s pantry.

There’s also a master suite with a fireplace, dressing room and bath sporting a soaking tub. Elsewhere are three ensuite guest bedrooms — one with a fireplace — as well as a one-bedroom, one-bath apartment with its own entrance; and outdoors, the grassy grounds are laced with oak and lemon trees, and host a brick terrace ideal for al fresco lounging and dining, as well as a French-inspired garden, gravel pathways and fountains. Per the listing, there’s also a chicken coop, garden shed and dog run.

In addition to his new Montecito getaway, David, 75, and his producer wife Ashley Underwood also maintain a primary residence in Pacific Palisades and a longtime Cape Cod retreat on Martha’s Vineyard, in Massachusetts.
